The project extended the life of the Design and Arts Precinct (DAP) for a further 10 years.


Delivered in four, staged separable portions (SP) to enable the ongoing use of the precinct, works involved refurbishing existing buildings, adding new learning spaces, and external  works and landscaping:

  • SP 1 (five months) – demolition and refurbishment to accommodate new computer laboratories

  • SP 2 (three months) – demolition and refurbishment to provide a new communications room, new prototyping studio, upgraded informal learning areas, hopper relocation, electrical/communication upgrades, external ramp in the courtyard, and upgrade to a new fire wall

  • SP 3 (six months) – demolition and refurbishment to accommodate new workplaces

  • SP 4 (10 months) – demolition and new build/extension to provide new learning facilities and external works, including the relocation of several mature trees.
