The new Maddington RAC home translates MercyCare’s model of care into the built form. Based on the ‘small house’ model of care, the new facility accommodates 108 beds across two floors in six small ‘houses’ of 18 residents.

Integrating dementia-sensitive design principles, the RAC home is thoughtfully crafted to foster independence, choice, and holistic well-being while fostering connections.

Features of the project include:

  • 108 bed residential building with a central core and three residential wings.

  • Each house will have its own dedicated kitchen, dining, lounge and courtyard (on ground level), as well as smaller quiet lounges.

  • Connected communal spaces including a wellness café, day spa, activity areas, enabling kitchens, wellness rooms and multiple sensory gardens.

  • Allied health and therapy services, massage clinic, physiotherapy and occupational therapy facilities.

  • Significant supporting amenities - full commercial kitchen, laundry facilities and back of house staff operational facilities.

  • State of the art ICT services including dementia monitoring services and access control systems.

  • Visitor and staff carparking, ambulance bay.

  • Site infrastructure, including a new electrical substation.

EMCO Building was responsible for completing all design documentation for construction, supply, installation, testing, commissioning, and handover of all works.
